From: Advanced Wiccan Spirituality by Kevin SaundersWhether we are aware of them or not, each person during an incarnation is assigned, or has chosen, a spiritual guide that is working from the spiritual plane to help us successfully complete the objectives and lessons we intended for ourselves whilst on the physical plane. They do not necessarily intervene all of the time: the bulk of the time we are left to just get on with the mundane, but whenever a crucial situation is entered they are there. How successful they are at communicating with our lower minds will depend on our stage of development. For a person who has not progressed far from a spiritual perspective, the communication is far from assured. Such a person may well receive some guidance, and it would most likely enter their minds in the form of an idea that has been subtly planted there, but even if this is so there is no guarantee that the person will act on the advice. The emotional plane creates a dense barrier that clouds the signals. For those who have been through many incarnations and have learned to see through the fog, the communication can be sensed with greater clarity and that person may even experience what appears to be actual verbal communication (clairaudience) which may be combined with, to some degree or another, the feeling of being pushed (clairsentience). This feeling of being pushed can become very strong, to the point of nearly being knocked off of one's feet or shoved out of one's bed. It is worth pointing out here that relatively advanced spiritual development is not synonymous with a well developed IQ. Advanced souls may well choose to experience life with a low IQ in order to learn specific lessons and less advanced souls may well choose an incarnation that has a high IQ for the same reasons. Some people may have more than one spiritual guide. Some may even experience a hierarchy of guides, that is, some guides who appear to be on call whenever the situation demands, and other more advanced guides with great power and wisdom who appear infrequently. Spiritual guides tend to be souls that have been through a considerable number of incarnations themselves and have taken on the role of being a teacher. The process of teaching is part of the growth experience. They may still have further incarnations to undertake, or they may progress along the teaching path to have a number of junior guides under their guidance. Once they have reached this level then they may well look in on one of their junior guide's charges, especially when crucial stages have been reached. Ultimately, in this hierarchy, each group of guides, headed by a senior guide, comes under the guidance of a master who steers the development of vast cultural groups of souls. There may be times, most likely extremely few and far between, that these masters will communicate with an individual incarnation to check on progress or to steer in a specific direction. If this happens to you there will be no doubt at all regarding the communication, it will be crystal clear and unmistakable. For those of a sceptical disposition it is very easy to shut out and put barriers up against communication with their guides. If there is a lack of understanding, an inability to accept the possibility of anything real that cannot be proven as material through scientific experiment, then this is an effective barrier, and part of the growth process is in breaking down such barriers. Those who are more open to feeling will find it easier and more natural to accept communication. Air types, who survive on logic, will find the process more challenging. In either case, reading the wisdom of others will help break down any barriers, especially for the logical types, as this will offer scope for understanding and leave the lower mind more open to the possibility of reality that is less tangible than perhaps they had conic to experience. EXERCISE MEETING YOUR SPIRIT GUIDEThis is a guided meditation. If you can record the following words at a slow comfortable pace, you may find this even more effective. If you do so, then read it slowly, with plenty at breaks at appropriate places and try to use a fairly steady tone rather than use emotive language the sub-conscious reacts better to a more monotonous tone, the conscious attempts to kick in when it hears emotion in the voice in order to analyse it. First of all, ensure you are perfectly comfortable ... IA/lien you are ready you arc going to close your eyes and take three deep breaths ... Breathing in, fill your lungs with air, continue breathing in until you can breathe in no more hold that breath for a moment, then breathe out slowly and completely. Breathe in again, breathing in deep, ... hold for a moment ... then breathe out again . . . hold for a moment, then breathe in again deeply, breathing in a pure bright light that fills your entire body ... as you breathe out, let any dark residues empty out with the breath ... now, just let your breathing settle down to a gentle relaxing rhythm ... breathing in ... and out . . . in and out. You are walking down a wide path in a green forest ... there are trees all around you ... you hear the sounds of birds singing, bees busying themselves. . the air is clear and fresh ... continue walking along the path through the trees .. the Sun shines through the leaves onto the forest floor in shafts of brig/it white light illuminating everything it touches ... After a while, as you continue to walk forwards, the path starts to 'et a little narrower, the trees become a little denser ... off to your right there is another, smaller path that leads off into the trees ... take this path and continue walking as you enter into trees it gets even denser, becomes darker, the canopy of trees blocks out the light .. ahead, in the gloom, the trees suddenly open into a little 'lade ... tall branches arch over this glade above ... as you enter there is a lo in the centre laying on its side ... you move towards it and sit down. After a short while you sense that you are no longer alone ... there is someone else here, but this presence feels entirely comfortable and friendly ... there is a sense of great peace and harmony ... As if from nowhere this presence reveals itself, as if from the trees themselves, and moves towards you ... you remain seated and greet your guide with a welcome smile ... you sit together for a while and just talk' You can ask anything of your guide ... take your time ... if any object is offered you then feel free to take it and offer thanks ... when you are ready stand up . . . gently bow towards your guide and offer thanks ... you can return here anytime you like, whether it is for further 'guidance, or simply to relax ... you turn your back and move towards the path that bran oft you here ... You look back one last time into the glade, but it is empty again, except for the log laying in the centre ... your guide has drifted back into the gloom of the trees to await your call when needed Head back along the narrow path until it rejoins the larger path ... the trees gradually open up again ... as you continue walking the way you came in you begin to notice once again tile sound of tile birds singing and the bees buzzing . . . you see the glorious sunshine bring shafts of bright light through the trees ... when you get back to where you started ... take three nice long deep breathes ... in your own time, bring yourself back to the world of form stretch your fingers and toes ... and open your eyes Blessed be! After any work like this it is useful to make notes in your journal. If you were given any objects by your guide, make a note of this, even if at the present time its meaning isn't entirely clear, it will be sometime in the future. Having kept a written record you will be able to recall the wisdom that has been shared with you more readily. Your guide or guides (some people have more than one) are with you all the time. This does not mean that things will not happen to you that you find unpleasant, far from it, but they will be there to help you learn from such important lessons if only you care to listen. Remember, that to fully appreciate the good things in life it is often necessary to experience the negative, and in order to be able to help others through negative issues or events the best way is often to have been through them yourself. Karma is the full range of life experiences that you have gathered over many lives, the more experience you have the more resources you have to call on. Try to look for the positive lessons to be learned, even in the most dreadful situations, If you look hard enough you will be able to find them. |
