Sex Magick & Kabbalah

Mystery of Shekhinah - or Sex Magick and the Kabbalah

by Magi

When reading this it may help to refer to the diagram of the Tree of Life .

The union of a god and goddess takes place in the creative Kabbalistic World of Atziluth. Briah, Yetzirah and Assiah are the fruits of their union. The God is Eheieh, the primary force of Kether. The Goddess is Shekhinah who is the indwelling presence, the essential form of Malkuth.

The Sephira (spheres on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life) are 'male' in what they give out, and 'female' in what they receive. Therefore, in one sense, Shekhinah is the receptive part of each sphere. Yet there is nothing above Kether so it is totally male - God; and nothing below Malkuth so it is totally 'female' - Goddess. This is seen day to day in references to god being the father and the goddess the earth. If you are familiar with tantra, it will be clear that Shekhinah is equivalent to Shakti.

The transcendent Self is Kether, the immanent Self is Malkuth. The immanent Self is then the Goddess residing as Shekhinah within the sphere of Malkuth. As it is said 'When the Self is present, Shekhinah is there'.

We energise our 'desire' in Nephesch (sphere 10 and 9) because of the experience of separation.

We may then experience the 'grace' of the Ruach (spheres 4 to 8) in an act of love, an experience of union.

At the climax of this union we know 'reality', contacting the Neschamah (spheres 1, 2 and 3), having the experience of being the True Source of all Life, Love, Liberty and Light.

At the moment of orgasm, Shekhinah, as the Holy Spirit, comes into the participants. The female partner identifies with this spirit and the man takes her within. The Zohar says before parting '... he must allow Shekhinah to rest on him so he remains both male and female'. The woman, who is already Shekhinah, allows herself to be clarified by the experience and may use the energy for magick work.

Shekhinah is also called Asherah, the Queen of Heaven, the consort Astarte, Ashtaroth, Ishtar and Esther. The Book of Esther in the Old Testament includes descriptions of the fertility rites and sacred marriages of Asherah, while the Song of Solomon was composed in her honour.

Psalms 24:7 says:

lift up your heads, o ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the Kingdom of Glory shall come in

The 'head' referred to is the penis of Eheieh (located in Yesod of Atziluth) ad the 'door' is the vagina of Shekhinah (which leads to Zion, the Holy City). The 'Glory' is the union of Geburah and Gedulah resulting from the love-play of Eheieh and Shekhinah who, having transcended Yesod and come through the 'door' to Zion, experience the orgasmic reality of 'Soul Union'

SOUL UNION

This exercise may be performed with a partner or by an individual using his or her imagination. Both participants follow the instructions at the same time, working together on the same desire or on individual desires.

Create your sacred space

Gazing into both eyes of your partner, at the same time pay attention to the midhead area. Prolong the gaze and allow yourself to fully relax Visualise your desire (as a sigil or image) on your partner's midhead Visualise its descent to the throat (You may stop here for oracular workings) Physically and/or astrally suck down the desire to the genital area (oral sexual union may be performed) Unite on earth (sexual union) Conclude by ingesting the resulting bipolar elixir (use of energy at orgasm). This androgynised elixir embodies the sigil/desir
